SDC has deep roots back to the 1940’s when Edward T. Dicker began Magnolia Homes which became Centex Construction Company. In the 50’s Dicker constructed over 2,000 residential homes on 7 Air Force bases and built and owned 3525 Turtle Creek in Dallas, Texas, which at the time was the tallest all concrete structure west of the Mississippi. In the 60’s and 70’s,developed and sold 6,000 lots, privately financed and held the mortgages privately. Dicker & Sons built homes in 29 countries. In the 70’s Dennis, Greg and Jeff founded Centex Real Estate Co. for commercial projects.

Formed 3D-M Inc. to construct 900 apartment units in Dallas, Tx., developed 350 self storage units privately financed in Addison, Tx. and developed a 100 acre Medical complex in conjunction with Hospital Corporation of America with corporate, private and Texas Bank financing in Plano. Tx.. Through the 80’s, 90’s to present, Dennis manages Edward T. Dicker Investments and developed with Greg and Jeff 200 quadruplex units financed via a UDAG Grant, Private financing and Jefferson S&L in Del Rio, Tx.

Gregory T. Dicker CEO/President founded Southern Development Corporation (SDC) in 1986 with his brothers serving as it’s officers, Dennis E. Dicker CFO/ Executive VP and Jeffrey J. Dicker COO/Executive VP developed 2400 lots in Nashville, Hendersonville and Goodletsville Tennessee and purchased 727 lots from the RTC in Texas with Private financing, built 127 homes in McKinney, Texas and over 200 homes in Tennessee,  selling the balance of the lots. SDC built homes in Texas and Tennessee and entered into a joint venture, Gold Coast Development, a 18,000 ac. PUD in northern Florida with financing provided by Nationwide, Hill S&L and Private Banking while building 300 multi family housing units in Atlanta, Georgia with financing being provided by Private and HUD. Jeff ,while staying involved in the family business, developed acreage and specialized in mountain side construction of custom homes with financing provided by 5th/3rd Bank and Private Funding from $1,000,000 to $3,500,000 in Scottsdale, Cave Creek and Carefree Arizona.

The brothers are involved in SDC’s current operations of commercial, residential development, and construction.
